Senior Neishlabeth Manzano attends a future medical leaders camp in North Carolina.

Studying medicine can be extremely challenging. It requires a lot of hard work as well as a lot of years of studying. Some of our high schoolers have a strong passion for studying medicine in college, from a nurse to a doctor.

Neishlabeth Manzano:

“I want to study medicine because giving people a chance at a better life is my calling.” says senior Neishlabeth Manzano.

As a student and later in her career Neishla dreams of having a direct impact on people’s lives, and for the better more often than not. She will certainly satisfy her sense of duty. In fact, most doctors will cite this as being a major reason for choosing a career in medicine.

“I want to become a biomedical surgeon” says Neishla. “I believe that the human body is full of interesting things to learn.”

Not many people come home after work and share that they just have helped a human live. With studying medicine , Neishla will be able to accomplish a lot towards helping humanity in daily life.

Alanyss Cruz:

“I have wanted to study medicine since I was a child” says senior Alanyss Cruz. “I watched my mom grow in her career as a medical assistant.”

Alanyss wants to be a physician assistant. She will be responsible for conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, and assist in surgeries.

She has watched her mom grow into her career in the medical field and how she impacts people. Alanyss has taken note of how important studying medicine is and how life changing it could be and that is what influenced her into look more into her future career.

“I want to study medicine because it interests me, the way the body works and how medication can help cure you”. Says Cruz.

Medicine degrees teach students transferable skills, such as presentation, research and communication, as well as healthcare information, and all the tools needed to work in a difficult and highly pressured environment.

“I plan to study in Nova Southeastern University in Ft.Lauderdale”. Says Alanyss.

Gil Mangual:

“I want to study medicine because health has been my interest since I was a kid.” says senior Gil Mangual.

For Gil, the passion to study medicine has come from his uncle who is a doctor. Gil’s goal is to follow his footsteps.

“My career goal is to become a Physiatrist.” says Gil.

As a physiatrist he will treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.

Right now his goal is to focus on college and then to start thinking about medical school.

“I want to study at University of South Florida.” says Mangual.

Gil wants to do his undergraduate in Biology because it will later be one of his requirements to enter Medical School.

Every one of our seniors chose a different path to study medicine, but all 3 of them will later choose a career that will be life changing.
