Luisa Navarrete
A Passion For Art
February 6, 2019
Starting to draw and paint from when she was around the age of five, junior, Luisa Navarrete continues to create outstanding artwork. Navarrete creates her pieces with materials such as charcoal, watercolors, acrylics, and pencils. She creates art almost every other day including realistic art.
Navarrete has many family members who also share a passion for art and that is where she was first inspired to create art. She started to teach herself how to draw at a very young age and caught on quickly as she grew up. Art is something that she believes she will never outgrow and is something she will continue when she is older. Navarrete thanks her mom for introducing her to art as well.
“What first inspired me to start creating art was when my mom and I lived in Fort Lauderdale.” Navarrete, said. “My mom used to paint murals and I always found it amazing how she could create such amazing artwork.”
Navarrete has had her artwork noticed by the school multiple times for many different reasons as well. Navarrete has been featured in the yearbook with her artwork a number of times and has done painting at school events.
“They put my art in the yearbook because I designed the 8th-grade field trip shirts,” Navarrete, said. “In ninth grade, I did face painting for Halloween.”
Art has many challenging aspects to it but also some good ones. Navarrete personally likes art because it is something she can create her own way and helps her with spotting details.
“I would encourage others because sometimes people doubt themselves when in reality they have so much potential, but would rather give up than try to finish the art that they are working on.” Navarrete, said.
Navarrete has been creating art for years and has gotten better and worse in many different ways. Her progression has helped her art become more realistic and meaningful.
“I feel like I have progressed in many aspects such as observational drawing and attention to details,” Navarrete, said. “But I have gotten worse in creativity.”
Art is very positive and a fun habit for Navarrete but, art has some challenges and bad times as well. Navarrete sometimes finds herself pushing herself too hard to be perfect and since her life is her inspiration for her art she wants her art to be amazing.
“I have felt discouraged about art because there are many artists out there that are better than me and I have to accept that.” Navarrete, said. “I have to realize at one point that I can’t compare myself to others.”
