The New iPhone 12 Raises Health Concerns
iPhone 12 Highlights Major Technological Flaws
March 9, 2021
Released on October 23 of 2020, the iPhone 12 is purchased by many iPhone users who are ready to upgrade their iPhones. Recently many users have been complaining about several problems with the new phone. It has been discovered that the new iPhone raises health concerns, and some users may be at risk.
Starting at $799, this model of the iPhone is more affordable compared to recent ones from previous years. It is common for iPhone users to upgrade to the latest model every year.
Soon after the release of the phone, many users report problems and issues that they have been experiencing with it. Some of the problems include fast battery drain, odd displays, malfunctioning screens, the wireless charging feature not working, and randomly dropped connections.
“I just purchased the iPhone 12 a couple of months ago. Since I had an older iPhone, it was time to upgrade. I figured it would be best buying the latest one because it would make sense, to get the latest model,” says freshman, iPhone 12 user, Gianna Ortiz.
Apple has told iPhone 12 owners that the problem is a software issue, and it should be resolved after an update. The phone seems to still have issues even after the release of the IOS 14.4 and the IOS 14.5 software update. Some users have been able to resolve some of the issues by going into the settings app and changing the display settings.
“When I charge the phone when the battery dies and it turns back on, the Apple logo kind of flashes. But other than that, the phone works smoothly for me and doesn’t give me any other problems at all,” Ortiz said.
The new iPhone can possibly disable life-saving medical implants. People who use a medical device or have a medical device implanted are more at risk. Apple has urged iPhone 12 users to keep the iPhone away from medical implants and keep it a good distance away while the phone is charging. This warning applies to the iPhone 12 Mini, the iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, and MagSafe accessories.
The interference with medical devices that the iPhone 12 causes can make its users at serious risk of heart problems. The magnets inside of the phone are what seem to be causing the issues. Previous models of the iPhone from past years did not have as many magnets that could cause any problems.
“I would say that people who do not have any underlying health conditions should be ok and not be affected by it. But people who use those medical devices should stay away from the phone just to be on the safe side and put their health first,” Ortiz continued.
The next iPhone is most likely going to be named the “iPhone 13” and has been announced to be released sometime at the end of 2021. Apple has not given an official release date. Rumors suggest that it will have a similar design to the iPhone 12. There are expected to be 4 versions of the phone: the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 mini, the iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. This phone is said to be a huge upgrade from the glitchy iPhone 12.
“I feel like it is worth the wait because of some of the problems with the iPhone 12. I would definitely wait because who knows? Maybe the iPhone 13 will have way better upgrades and will actually be worth it in the long run,” freshman, Karina Cruz said.
