The baseball players are ready to bring home a championship this season while showing you their strategies to success!
With the baseball team setting the bar on their first game with a neck-to-neck tie against Celebration High School, this goes to show the team will stop at nothing to hit this season out of the park.
“To prepare for a game I usually listen to music or think about friends and family since they usually get me in the zone where I focus more. I would consider them as my inspirations because they are just like that to me,” eighth grader Brandon Cruz expressed.
With a joint expectation of winning against their opponents this season, most players are committed to pushing their limits until they achieve all-star status, while also pursuing their individual goals.
“I’m trying to commit to college by the end of the season too, and hopefully get Gatorade Player of the Year in Florida. Gatorade Player of the Year is like MVP in the state of Florida. To get this award you must be good both academically and on the field. And having the stats to show that I am not just anyone who plays for fun, but I want to do this in the future,” Junior Captain Adriel Cruz said.
When it comes down to the team playing on the field, they all act as one but the way they each prepare for a game is different. They each have their own techniques they use to make sure they are up and running to get down.
“For games I usually listen to affirmations telling myself that I can do it and I will be able to do it, because if you are not confident and are constantly doubting yourself you will do bad, but if you are constantly bringing yourself up you will succeed,” freshman Omar Ortiz said
They say it is not just about age, but skill and hard work. When it comes to sports there is room for talent across the entire age spectrum. Especially when there is burning motivation. Thats the case here with 8th grader Brandon Cruz who made the Varsity baseball team in middle school.
“I found it pretty shocking because usually in schools they only allow high school on varsity. But when I found out that I can be on varsity I believe seventh or eighth grade, I knew that I was on the team’s level. So, it made me happy,” Cruz explained.
Confidence is a classic key component in any sport out there. It is a skill necessary for every athlete to shine in their sport. No matter how gifted the player is, they must play with confidence to unleash that potential on the court or field.
“If you don’t have confidence in yourself, and you’re constantly doubting yourself, you will do bad if you if you’re constantly putting yourself up, you will do good and you will succeed,” Ortiz said
The baseball team has come a long way from where they first started. With this being the third year of baseball, much improvement has been made with the team growing exponentially, the whole group creating a strong bond that you can clearly see on the field and gaining more wins than ever before.
“The team last year was decent. They weren’t the best; they need some practice but so far so good and they are looking better. This year they have good potential. Last year we lost against Celebration, it was a real blowout game but this year we really gave them some competition so that is a motive this year. The team can also use some more base running, offense, and a lot of hitting needs to be done,” former coach Ryan Nazario addressed.
Not only do athletes as individuals need to have a strong bond with themselves, but they also must have a strong connection with their team. Upholding your fellow allies and working with them to achieve goals can go a long way.
“We all like we’re all brothers to each other. All our parents are close. Just like whenever we get the chance to hang out, we always take it. Communication has a big like role in playing sports. So, without the bond in the communication, you won’t really make anywhere I mean with our team we have a good bond so that’s why we’re really looking forward to the season and making it far,” Cruz said
