With varsity boys’ basketball season coming to an end players provide a recap of their season.
Players on the team such as senior Bernhard Destine view this season as a fun time spent with his fellow teammates.
“It feels good I get to play with my teammates, it’s always fun with them. It’s pretty fun when we’re winning, when we’re losing it’s not,” Destine said.
The Coyotes have won an overall of six games out of seventeen throughout the season, making them 6-11. A lot of the teammates agree that this was not their best season. Players like Destine believe that they needed to pass the ball more and communicate on and off the court.
“There are a lot of things we could’ve worked on but that’s just how it is. I think we could’ve worked on passing the ball and communicating more,” Destine said.
Though the season was rough, junior Keshav Harpal was able to make history with the Four Corners varsity boys basketball team and score 35 points in one game, something nobody on the team had done.
“My biggest accomplishment this season was probably when I scored 35 points which is the highest I’ve scored ever at a game, and the highest in Four Corners history,” Harpel said.
While Harpel may have been able to break a Four Corners record, freshman Joshua Barnes broke his own when scoring 23 points in a game.
“I think my biggest achievement this season was when I scored 23 points, my highest points at school, on varsity,” Barnes stated.
A big moment student athletes look forward to in their high school career is the traditional Senior Night. This year the coyote boys ended Senior Night with a score of 67-56.
“It’s kind of sad being at the end of the season but it’s exciting and I’m taking a new step cause I’m about to graduate,” senior Anthony Albear said.
There were a lot of great moments from Senior Night, like the senior walkout, but for senior Zachary Skinner his teammates energy throughout the game was the highlight of the night.
“My favorite thing from senior night was all my teammates being hype throughout the whole game and playing together for mine and my fellow seniors last home game,” senior Zachery Skinner said.
A highlight during Senior Night was when Skinner scored a 3-point basket, making the crowd go wild. It was an opportunity that he doesn’t usually get, while playing.
“It was very exciting for me to be able to do. I felt very good in the moment and my team, and I were very hype after I made the shot,” said Skinner.
While the team can all collectively agree that they had a good time this season the seniors also find it bittersweet that this is their final season playing for Four Corners.
“I find it sad it’s my last season playing for high school, but it was a good season for me and I’m happy with it,” Destine said.
While it may be hard for the seniors to step away from the game and team they love and know, it can also be hard for teammates such as Barnes, that must watch the seniors leave.
“I’m glad for them because there going on to do bigger things but I’m also sad for them cause it’s there last year playing basketball on the Coyotes and there my teammates and will always be my teammates,” Barnes said.
