This year the Four Corners theater department is performing the play Holes, an adaptation of the beloved novel and Disney film. The play tells the story of Stanley Yelnats and his time at Camp Green Lake.
Many individuals acting within the show are looking forward to specific aspects of the production such as junior Daliana Perry. Perry has been with the Four Corners theater program for the longest time out of any actor within the cast having been with the program for six years now.
“It’s a fun story especially with the aspects of changing time within like just seeing all the aspects of these families lives as they intertwine and seeing their descendants as they become friends I think that’s very cool to see.” Perry stated.
The themes of changing time found within the story manifest in other ways as well. Costuming is also something the cast is looking forward to with their outfits for this show echoing this theme with clothing matching the older time period portrayed at points in the story.
“I feel like I’m just excited for the costuming weirdly enough. With the fact that the story takes place in so many different time zones it’d be fun to see how our costume designing will go especially because my character is from the 1900s which will be definitely a different vibe,” said Perry.
However, this new production is the first show for several new members joining the cast and ranks of the Four Corners theater program who find themselves excited to contribute to the upcoming show.
Freshman Jordin Navedo made some comments pertaining to the new influx of actors joining the cast “We have a lot of new people so its going to take some time getting used to but for now it seems to be going alright,” stated Navedo.
Members of the cast already familiar with these productions and with the art of acting are still finding themselves excited for this new show and the production. Sophomore Tanaira Miranda shared their passion for acting.
“When I act it gives me the ability to express myself in a way that I sometimes can’t in real life,” stated Miranda
Sophomore Kristopher Lacombe shares this very same excitement for the upcoming show after having taken a break from last year’s production of Shrek.
“I don’t do theater because I need to or I have to I just do it because I love it,” Lacombe stated.
Seeing so many students enter into the cast for this show and show passion has doubtlessly emboldened members of the cast who have already been there for some time to put even more passion into their performances to create the best show they can.
“I’m just looking forward to forming it, having a great time, you know bonding with the cast that’s always a nice part of doing theater,” stated Miranda, enforcing the community of this cast even more as they go into the production of Holes, a show sure to be just as entertaining as every other show our theater department has put together
