During the school year students are given a one week break in the Spring right before testing starts to relax and enjoy time away from school.
Not all students use this break for relaxing. Some students use this break to study for exams that are soon to come. Junior Florencia Eslava is using her break to study for the ACT exam that is approaching on April 26.
“I want to use my Spring Break to study for my ACT exam. I’m kind of nervous about the exam because the score I get on my exam will be passed on to colleges that I will apply too, and I want to do really good on it to get into a good school. I have been looking at a few schools that I am interested but I need to make sure, I get a high enough score to get into these schools,” Eslava said.
Other students are using this break in the opposite way. Sophomore Gabrielle Destine is planning on spending time with friends and family to keep her stress free over the break.
“I am planning to hang out with my friends this Spring Break. My friend is having a birthday party for her 16th birthday. It’s a pool party and I’m so excited to go. I’ll probably go to the gym with my sister, and I’ll probably hang out with my sister, like go out to eat with her friends because I usually just hang out with her to get out the house to do random stuff like errands, but we always end up having fun,” Destine said.
Destine also believes that Spring Break is needed as a time to wind down from all the stress that the past few quarters have provided.
“Spring Break means freedom to me because I’ve been working really hard this quarter. I would get break from all the studying, so spring break will help me with some sort of mental health break for me. I normally sleep in bed and binge watch shows like right now I’m currently binge watching ‘Desperate Housewives’ and it’s so good just to get a little rest before I have to go back to school,” Destine stated.
Orlando is a hot spot during spring break. Though students live here, some still plan on going to theme parks to ride on attractions with a group of friends or family.
“I might be going to Universal with my friends, but I know for sure that I am going to Fun Spot over the break with my friends and my family. Usually, we make up our plans as we go through the break,” freshmen Jiang May stated.
