Last school year the student body of Four Corners Upper School (FCUS) was left with a hard decision; who did they want to be the new Student Council President? In the end, Kylie Fuller was elected.
“Luckily, I feel like we were left in a really good place because of our last student council president/officers and their efforts. I plan to continue everything they started, but, I really want to make sure that this year FCUS can feel even more like a family. My hope is that I can plan even more events that include everyone and raise school spirit,” Fuller said.
Since Fuller’s second year at FCUS, after minor setbacks, she set out a goal to become as involved as possible.
“I moved to Florida in 2021 and started at FCUS in my eighth-grade year. That year wasn’t the greatest for me, I ended up being diagnosed with a neurological disorder. This disorder definitely gave me some setbacks. I wasn’t able to come to school for a while or even walk for a while. I had to go through intensive physical therapy and rewire my body basically. So, when I made the decision to come back to Four Corners for high school, I knew that I didn’t want to come back as just a student. My goal from the minute I was able to walk again was to be a leader, and to be somebody who people could see and relate to. I wanted to show people that no matter what the comeback is always greater than the setback.”
Along with the role of a student, Fuller also takes the roles of, Editor-in-Chief of the Coyote Chronicle, the Founder of Quill and Scroll International Honor Society, cheerleader, middle school cheer Coach, and now Student Council President. She has always wanted better for the school, so she made a decision early on.
“I decided to run for student council in ninth grade when I came to the school. Like I said, I knew I wanted to be somebody influential and a person who would make a positive impact on our school. I have always believed that an amazing way to do that would be to run for Student Council and hopefully win.”
Fuller feels as though she has developed certain leadership skills that has helped her navigate the demands that come with the job and is ready to make a difference.
“Personally, I think I’m a very determined person. If something needs to be done, no matter how hard it is I will get it done. I also think that I’m very positive, which I believe is a good trait to have for a leader. No matter how difficult things can be to have a positive attitude makes it 10 times easier.
Fuller feels as though this leadership skill will come in handy now that Student Council is a class
“I’d also say I’m very patient so now that the student council is a class and we’re working with 40 different people I think patience is key. I think all of these traits add up to make me a leader.”
Fuller of course, needs a Vice President. The student body elected Caitlyn Class as Student Council Vice President. It seems that Class and Fuller share some similar goals for the year.
“To make the school year better I’m going to try my best to include different people from different friend groups in fun events we have planned for the school year like Pep rally games, social media posts, and new exciting events that will be planned,” Student Council Vice President Class said.
As someone who has always enjoyed school events, Classes biggest goal for the year is to elevate them and try to include as many people as possible.
“I chose to run for student council in the first place because i really like being involved in things that can affect me firsthand. I really enjoy school events such as pep rallies and dances so by me being vice president I am able to make it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.”
