A new operator has arrived at Rainbow Six Siege, in the newest update, Denari, now a defense player, is a limited time early access operator that can be obtained in the new battle pass.
What is Rainbow Six Siege: X?
Thomas Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a popular online first-person shooter which was originally released in 2015 by Ubisoft, a game company known for games like Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, and Far Cry.
The main basis for the game is a five versus five team system with several game modes mostly based around defense and offense having specific operators for either side. In addition, the game has a mode called Dual Front, which consists of teams of six players in the attacking or defending sectors as well as large amounts of cosmetics such as weapon skins and cosmetics for operators.
This game has a battle pass system similar to other popular games like Call of Duty and Fortnite, among others. It has a large community with popular streamers like Jynxzi who have been playing the game for years.
Rainbow Six Siege has a cross-platform system for both PC and Console with data syncing across both. It is also currently free to play as of June 2025 with the major update, which changed the name to Rainbow Six Siege: X. The new update Operation: High Stakes along with the newest operator, brings in bug fixes, weapon inspect animations, and a new assignment for the Dual Front mode as well as upgrades for other maps.
What are some of the negative aspects?
The game does have a fair share of issues. Many things are locked behind a paywall, meaning the customization system can become costly at the cost of getting more recent operators. As well as the fact players can team kill each other and get damaged by team members. The penalty system is faulty, as it penalizes a player who must leave the match with a 60-minute ban from playing as well as losing their reputation, which is a big part of the game. Further, characters sometimes get randomly weakened by developers. Finally, the matches can become long and tedious.
What are the positive aspects?
Even with its shortcomings Rainbow Six Siege does still have good aspects. For example, the game does get frequently updated with new maps and remakes of old maps. Tournaments are held from time to time, allowing players to win prizes. Players can get free packs, which can contain cosmetics such as Black Ice skins, the rarest in the game. Players can get substantial amounts of rewards from the battle to pass too, should they choose to buy it. Cosmetics do not make weapons better or worse, allowing everyone an equal chance to fight.
So, does it make or miss its target?
Overall, while Rainbow Six Siege does have both good and bad qualities, such as in my opinion the customization options and the large number of paywalls that are in the game. It is up to the player to decide whether Siege is good for them. Still, I believe that any new player should try the game out first before making a sound conclusion.
