On Saturday, September 6th the Four Corners Cross Country Team had their first meet of the 2025-2026 season.
Team captain Aniyah Martin was asked some questions about the team and her implications in it as the captain, “What made me realize I liked cross country so much is that it takes a lot of dedication for the sport, also it’s a very simple sport like all you have to do is run but it takes a lot of mind and spirit, and the more effort I put into it the better I get at it so that’s what I really like about the sport,” Aniyah said.
“I do not practice a lot over the summer, so I have become a little rusty, but as soon as I hit the field and started running I kinda felt more natural. I have been doing this for a few years now and I just kinda remember my love for running every time I begin that first meet,” sophomore Jillian Nitcher stated.
The event took place at St. Cloud High School on September 6th; there were more than two hundred kids competing from over fifteen different schools from three different counties, so it was a good environment for the first meet of the year.
“I felt like I needed water, I was never happier to drink water, but it felt really great finishing, and I am ready for the next race,” first-year student Elizabeth Girardot said.
The FCUS Team might not have had the results they were expecting but they know that with this incredible group of kids and team captain Aniyah Martin setting the expectations bar high, they will have a season to remember, the FCUS Cross Country hopes to see you showing the love and getting involved with them to follow their incoming season.
