The boys and girls conditioning for the soccer season has officially started and will be preparing them for the challenges this new season comes along with, as they will be taking part in two official competitions this year.
Conditioning has the aim of preparing the boys and girls physically for the season, but participating in conditioning does not mean they are on the team. Conditioning is seen as the step before tryouts, where Coach Freddy Aguirre selects the players that will be playing JV soccer and the ones that will be playing Varsity soccer.
“The selection process is not that hard, they need to be diligent students, they must be prepared physically, technically, emotionally, and mentally. Let us suppose that I have 60 players, I need to pick a minimum of 20 players for each team, so that is why we are doing a 2-month long conditioning, to get the best out of each player and from there pick the best of the best to represent the school,” Coach Freddy stated.
The teams are a mix of players, from every grade of high school, from sophomores to seniors.
“We are extremely excited to start working as a team, start preparing the games, studying our rivals, and just playing the game, we look forward to playing in front of people who supports us as we all want the same thing, make FCUS win,” junior Mathias Leal said.
The team it looking to win the Varsity League this year. Freddy has been itching for another win since the last was three years ago.
“It is a commitment to the school and the coach, it is also a vote of confidence the coach is giving us, to play and represent the school’s name and is such an exciting thing to do,” Junior Aixa Luzardo said.
As the days pass the coyotes are getting better physically and technically as the new season approaches, the FCUS soccer teams ask you, whoever is reading this, to support them as much as possible.
