The Four Corners Middle school soccer team opened their 2025 season with an 8-0 win against division rivals Renaissance Poinciana on Friday, October 17th.
“Of course, it is like a boost to begin a season like this, the kids are very committed to the team, they come to training every day and they have applied everything they practiced all week and fortunately they could produce the win,” Soccer coach Freddy Aguirre said.
In high stake games such as these advantages are hard to come by, but the team had the upper hand as they got to play at home, in a field they are already familiar with.
“Obviously, it is a crucial factor to play at home, in our field, where they train every single day, because who is going to know that field better than us, right? So, we got to take those advantages,” Aguirre said.
“Yeah, of course you are nervous because you have a lot of things in your head that may play out in unusual ways, you feel the need to win, but also to play well because if you do not you feel like training has not worked well, and that is not the case with the way we have been training,” Eighth grader and team captain Adrian Daza told.
Despite the nerves that come with starting the new season, they managed to play an exceptionally good game with no surprises, securing the win and their first three points of the season.

“Yeah, we just wanted to play well and prove what we can do and just have fun playing the sport we love, of course we had an incredibly good pace, we pressed them all game and even when winning we wanted to do more, to score more, to run more, so that is what defines us as a team because that shows that we can develop our game plan and that is what we have been practicing, since conditioning we all have been thinking about this game and thankfully we could win it,” Eight grader Samuel Abreu stated.
The team will play their second game of the season on Monday, October 20th at home for the second week in a row. They look forward to getting their second win of the season with all the support they need to come up with those precious 3 points.
“We could translate the game we played against Poinciana to this match, and that played out very well, it feels like an honor to be team captain as a girl and as a sixth grader, but that just makes me feel proud and eager to continue working and helping the team with my goals,” Sixth grader and team captain Alejandra Gomez said.

These words come after the team defeated Davenport Mater on Monday, October 20th in their second appearance of the 2025 season by an 8-0 result, the coyotes have scored sixteen goals in just two games making them the team with the most goals scored in their respective league.
