It is now that time of year when seniors embark on their new journey as newfound adults.
At Four Corners Upper School (FCUS), there are many events for seniors to celebrate how far they have come through all the daring challenges of high school and end their last year with a bang. Some of these events include Senior Skip Day, Grad Bash, Senior Night (for senior athletes), Senior Prank, Senior Sunset and Sunrise, and Senior Picnic.
Senior Skip Day is a tradition, usually organized by the students, not the school, where seniors skip school for a day and gather somewhere to celebrate their senior year coming to an end.
“The most exciting senior event I attended this year was Senior Skip Day at the beach. It was a great time spending the day off with all of my friends,” senior Ethan Garcia said.
Another popular senior event is Grad Bash, where seniors from neighboring schools go to Universal Studios after hours to hang out with friends and experience the amazing attractions together.
“The most exciting event of my senior year was Grad Bash. I was able to spend time with friends while we enjoyed the parks together. It was such a fun and unforgettable experience because we laughed so much and enjoyed our last big event as seniors before graduation, and being surrounded by my friends made it one of the best moments of my senior year,” senior Fernanda Uribe said.
Another senior event that many student athletes look forward to is their Senior Night. This is when seniors on a sports team are celebrated for all of their hard work throughout their high school athletic career, usually at their last home game.
“The most exciting senior event was probably my own Senior Night. It felt very personal; a lot of people that I love went to it, and as someone who has played varsity sports all 4 years, it was truly such an emotional moment,” senior Sebastian Martinez said.
As the Class of 2026 is officially all graduates at FCUS, many reflect on their senior year and the memories that they will hold onto forever.
“This senior year, I felt like we had so many exciting events from Senior prank, to Senior picnic, and so many others but if I had to pick one senior event it would probably be the last day of senior year although it wasn’t a crazy event with anything setup or anything like that, it felt really emotional being able to just be all together for our last hours of being a senior and to just reminisce our last four years we have had all together. And also being able to walk around the hallways one last time with all the other grades clapping as we walked was such a surreal moment that I’ll never forget,” senior Daniely Gonzalez said.
